im very dissapointed pressing is terrible , i think that is reason that this double lp cost 16 usd on amazonsorry for my english
My version is an odd, but annoying, misprint. It has the label for side A on both side A and B.
This release has a lot of surface noise, and the first record has a really sharp edge
I think I lucked out. I was so hesitant to order this due to bad reviews. I have had From A Room Vol. 1 & 2 and they are excellent pressings. So once this dropped to $16 on Amazon I figured - what the hell, and bought. Upon arrival, it is a typical United pressing - it is FILTHY, with overall very poor quality control. The edges on vinyl 1 are sharp enough to cut yourself on. But I played it out of the sleeve as is. It was far from the best sounding vinyl I own, but with some tinkering of my levels I thought it sounded good (like 6/10 good). I will keep it, and I will clean the hell out of it, and I'm sure I'll continue to spin this in the near future.
I finally accepted the challenge... first off, I agree with the general consensus that this was an overall terrible pressing. It's fairly common for labels to skimp on 1st pressings for debut albums. Lucky for us, this one will have many more versions to come! In the meantime, it took me 4 copies of mixing and matching (along with a good cleaning) to come up with a superior double LP. The sonic undertones and tightness of the bass, along with the dynamic range pouring out of Stapleton's vocals, will make your hair stand on end! Beautifully produced album... the kind of country I've been waiting for quite a while.
My copy has subtle surface noise throughout. However, the occasional light crackle definitely suits the music. Could this pressing have been better? Yes. Is it so terrible as to be entirely unlistenable to my pretentious, ever so finely tuned, ears? Fuck no. So light a ???? and/or toss back some ???? while spinning this people. Live and let go. Vinyl, like life, is (and will always be) flawed. That's the maddening beauty of it.
There have been terrible reviews of this lp pressing. At this point it seems like the cd is the way to go.
I was wanting to find more opinions of the album pressing, weight, quality, etc. I bought 3 copies and they all have a few dimples in the vinyl - I can feel that it's definitely not 200 gram vinyl. What are your thoughts?
I play this all the time - 2 to 3 times a week at my vinyl shows - I use a shure m44 so thats the loudest needle you can use - the levels are crap - i have to turn up 4db. I use subwoofers so it kinda sucks but I play vinyl 5 times a week and it's got to be played so im stuck until they reissue a better one.
Mine is a noisy mess. Sent it back to Amazon, replacement is no better.
Looks to be 150gm vinyl. Quality is all over the place. I literally cut my finger on the edge of one LP. They didn't do a very good job smoothing this one out. Sound, though, is decent. No dimples.
Does the lp come with a digital download card? Thanks.
It's back in stock as of 08/11/2015 on for $16.99, which isn't bad - I really, really hope they make a limited pressing of 180g or 200g vinyl - let me know what you think after you've listened to it.
I just got my copy today -- this seems to be out-of-stock everywhere. I will listen to it a bit later. I am surprised there is not a lyric inner sleeve included.
