My copy has same label on side A & B - anyone else ?? - Both sides say "Neon Pattern Drum" etc.One of my favourite albums BTW and think the quality is fantastic.
Yup. Me too. Which can make choosing a side tricky ????
A Sublime album and pressing, all around. If you are a fan of electronic music, this is a must have.
Simply one of the best albums of 2018. And one of my favourite electronical albums of all time.

Still In Mind
Dear Jonathan Julian Hopkins, thank you for this unbelievable album. With your new release i can feel that electronic still contact with all the nature.
Excellent release, clean and warm. Some surface noise but one of the better sounding releases and well mastered. Also an amazing album, one of the best of the year
LPs were really dirty out of the sleeves. Finger prints and powder from latex gloves from manufacturing. Discs cleaned up okay with wet wash. Sounds pretty good. Some surface noise. One of the better modern day vinyl pressings. Signed print is decent. The print I received is sort of underwheleming. Blurry nighttime shot of out of focus trees.Music is superb. One of my favorites from 2018.
Its a lively rehash of sounds and ideas from Immunity, and I am very sad to be writing this. It's nothing near the evolutionary step forwards we all anticipated that he would deliver, its a sidestep. Its a great pressing with a pretty terrible signed image. His music has always wrapped itself around an undefinable structure - its intricate build, its daring decisions, its textures and radiant sheen are such enviable qualities. All Hopkins older albums contain drastic use of tempo, swing and time signature changes at their core, or simply no signature at all, leaving you suspended in mid air. The unpredictable builds and rises, the clever switchbacks, the psychedelic drops – there are all trademarks of Hopkins genius. Singularity’s repetitious use of familiar stock approaches and borrowed elements from ‘Immunity’, leave you satisfied with your high-fidelity fix, yet ultimately concerned this isn’t breaking any new ground at all. The time signatures are too regular, the piano seems less important than ever and his musicianship devalued. The soulful ‘Insides’ contains so much more emotion, diversity and playfulness than this. The intoxicating ‘Immunity’, medicated and neurotic, reinvented techno at a critical point, abandoning concept with loose rhythmical deconstruction, which was a landmark achievement.‘Singularity’ contains the finesse and intricacy he devotes to all his sequencing, editing, and mixing, but it comes up short on innovation. Does that make it unenjoyable? No, far from it, but It's all too clear he has spent too much time fiddling with the hydrocarbons than synthesising new and innovative designs.
I'm not sure what you were expecting but this is a fantastic evolutionary step by Hopkins and the best release of 2018 thus far.. As far as diminished musicianship, and predictable unpredictability goes this album warrants neither tag as it stands alone as one of his superior works with repeated listens revealing a mature and cleverly nuanced approach to already solid songwriting. Superb release perhaps a little hastily judged?
It was a typo - corrected to unenjoyable - I have listened to it around 4 - 5 times now and I think it feels like two EPs rather than an album
I kind of agree with you, except that I wouldn’t say it's far from enjoyable. Plenty of people enjoying it right now.
I got your point. Listen more times and maybe you change your opinion a bit, because I changed. Anyway, any thing a great artist do is important to it and us, so this current step is fundamental. It's continuity
Gotta say, the pressing quality from a sound and overall feel is SUPERB! Probably the one of the best sounding vinyls i have. The music speaks for itself....unreal and powerful..everything you would expect from Jon.
I stumbled across this artist only recently and took a gamble on the blue vinyl after hearing just one track. As a fan of the old 'Northern Exposure compilations from the late 90's, I found myself playing all four sides of this album back-to-back several times on the day of release. Jon fuses complex electronic soundscapes with gorgeous melodies and this album flows beautifully. Special praise should also be heaped on Domino Records of Hot Chip fame as this is one of the best modern sounding records I've heard in recent years. Superb sonics and deep bass on this midnight blue pressing with virtually no background noise whilst the inner sleeves have extra padding which is a lovely touch. Grab this blue edition whilst you can and it will dominate your turntable.
Jon Hopkins paints enchanting sonic artwork with palette of sounds varying from mechanically synthetic waveforms to earthly organic timbres.Hopkins breeds classical style with electronic beats to produce something special. He just doesn't stack the two genres together to produce something artificial. Instead, Hopkins carefully composes the two aspects weaving them together by the finest grains of compositional details and sonic textures. Such a seamless design requires a vivid artistic vision, skill and a lot of effort. John Hopkins is a master of his art, Singularity being a timeless masterpiece and his best work up to date.
After Opalescent this has to be his best follow up to it beautiful & relaxed album to chill back to congratulations Jon on another winner 5/5
Absolutely fantastic record - an electronic masterpiece! Nice one Jon.
Trust me - This will be the best release of 2018.
