Stripped-down thoughtful brilliance. Favorite album in years. Unfortunately, it appears that Mr System has a commenter here who is making statements that smell of ad hominem attacks disguised as reviews. Don't be fooled.
Everybody has a right to an opinion, it is not for you to decide that persons character, after all one could turn on yourself..
Took a second listen on this. Maybe not what I came to expect first time round, since the sampler was tough on both sides. As an album for the lounge this fits in second to none. Takes a few run throughs to hear exactly what's on offer, but definitely some impressive listening as a whole
You're behaving more like Dr. Evil. Lol. Get old & stop hating!
I normally find Exit records stuff solid but doesn't inspire me to buy. Consequently I'd not paid much attention when this album was first promoted. But having heard a few tracks in mixes and mixes by Mark System himself I was drawn to his album. Somehow he's managed to capture a great and slowly evolving sound on this album which is refreshing compared to the frequent and major changes that other D&B tracks feature to maintain the interest of the increasingly short attention span of listeners. And that bassline on 'Optix'!!
Generic bass from Massive.
Great and refreshing album. Not reinventing the wheel but all the vibes on each track are spot on. Take it all in. It may not seem to jump out at first but this is one of those albums that will surely stand the test of time. Quality from start to finish.
Pardon me but am I not allowed to give a review without having someone rip it apart? You did not see me do that to yours below. The fact you don't rate it too highly is noted but your smarmy reply to my review was never asked for. Go write some tunes of your own have an opinionated wanker slam them of you think everyone needs to be forced into hearing what you have to say. Music is subjective. Get off your high horse. I quite like this album hence my review. Sorry you don't agree
Great album.
Imagine it somewhere on "souldeep" or "im:ltd" or etc - still refreshing, still will stand "the test" ? )) lol
1st LP from System. Not phenomenal but solid, solid work. Only the sampler of this is a bit disappointing.4/5
Steel balls
Just recovering from Record Store Day at INTENSE Records at the weekend, I remember Shuffle (The Owner) and DJ Jammy in the shop what seams like about 6 months ago talking about this wicked tune, I said who is it by they said Mark System and that it was not out yet. Then about a month ago I saw that System had an album coming out and I said to Shuffle is that tune on there he said yes it's on the 12" Album sampler. On Saturday (RSD Day at INTENSE) Shuffle had loads of Dj's come down and play in the shop and in the evening at their club night, one of them was Mark System, and a few tunes in he dropped "THAT TUNE" which blew the place apart.....................OPTIX !!!I had a little chat with Mark about up and combing releases, he was a really nice chilled bloke !Apart from that tune other tunes I personally really rate on the album are Final Approach, Rainfall, Waiting For A Title and Fruit and Water !Keep up the good work Mark !!! and BIG UP THE INTENSE MASSIVE !!! you know who you are !
Not much to say about this album. Whole lp sounds in one techy liquid key with blunt basslines and generic pads. Drum patterns are monotonic and repetitive too. Not much "life" out there. Probably the best tracks are on sampler. But "Optix" starts to bother after a couple of minutes. To be honest, this album rather disappointment than something else. System stays in calm waters without a goal.
Error parents
lol. :)
Not much to say about this review. Whole review seems to be done by an overbearing ass with blunt conjecture and generic opinions. Dissing another person's review because he feels the need to tear it down seems monotonic and repetitive too. Not much "life" out there. Probably the best advice is allow others to review and they will leave you be. But Evil Roger starts to bother one after a couple of smug comments below another person's review. To be honest, this guy seems to be a rather huge disappointment than something else. Evil Roger stays in calm waters without a goal.
