Pedar
is there any difference in sound between US and EU? why EU copy is more expensive?
Nilasida
Guess what, i had disc No. 2 missing from a new sealed box. Discs No. 1 and 4 are scratched. Terrible pressing, but great mastering. Sounds wonderful. It is a shame that an expensive box set has defects like this. And having paper sleeves should have been something long forgotten… The discs have enough electricity to light up the International Space Station when pulled from the sleeve.
Levaq
Being an big Pink Floyd fun, I did side by side comparation of first, 1995. edition, and this reissue on HiEnd HIFI system and my conclusion is that original is way better sounding, more analog, with bigger stage, precise timing and more natural sounding with complete illusion of beeing at concert. New reissue is just missing this edge, missing something that is not exactly definable but it's there. I don't know if this is because reissue is not al analog produced, but remastered...I almost always found first editions are the best ones.
Rocksmith
CFL79 A first pressing will always sound best. Mastered from fresh analogue sources. BG mastering is off the charge and its the best we have nowadays but whenever you can get the original just go for it! I disagree, many reissues sound better than originals.
Cordalas
A first pressing will always sound best. Mastered from fresh analogue sources. BG mastering is off the charge and its the best we have nowadays but whenever you can get the original just go for it!
Agarus
Excellent pressing. Sounds clean.LP no. 4 was damaged on the one I bought (lead-in groove was melted, badly deformed). I read other reviewers having other LPs damaged so make sure you buy from a trusted distributor that will replace damaged LPs.
Abywis
When I got the first box, the LP no. 2 was badly scratched. But they sent me a new box in 2 days after I made my complaint by e-mail. So I'm happy now because the new box was in excellent condition.
Anarius
I have the original edition and now bought this new edition. The new edition is fantastic, not that there were anything wrong with the old release...There is some differences though, the new box is thinner than the old one, then there are some differences in the photos inside the book, some of the photos are simply not the same ones!
Naril
I'm gonna buy one these days on amazon.com, but i have some confusion...Is there 2 versions of these release? One on 180 grs and another with less? somebody hel me please!!, regards
grand star
Yes. There's the US pressing, and the EU pressing. Look under releases and you should see all the different pressings and CDs and such other forms.
Broadraven
So I ordered both the US and the EU pressings of this with the intention of keeping the EU pressing sealed, but now that i have the EU pressing i want to open it and listen to it. Do you think it will skyrocket in price quiet a few years from now or God forbid when one of the members of the band pass away? I live in the US so EU pressings are harder to come by here. Do you think its worth keeping sealed for collection value when i have US pressing to listen to?
Jaberini
The price will skyrocket only when it goes out of press and they don't do a repress...then both versions will skyrocket. Now, as there aren't much differences between EU and US version except different pressing plants were used I myself wouldn't pay more just because the vinyl was pressed on a different.
caster
OK simple question: what pressing plant was used for this EU release ?
Fawrindhga
The EU pressing was made in Germany @ Optimal Media GmbH (It is noted on the cardboard mailer box sticker above the Barcode)
Fohuginn
Amazing, Gorgeous Sound! I always tought that One of These Days should be in the first disc as a last track, and the vinyl version makes justice! This reissue is one of the best of the full campaign, no doubt about that!! I hope that Is There Anybody Out There - The Wall Live, will be one of next reissues!
Deodorant for your language
Well, I used to have old vinyl box & sold it some time ago. It was also without polyliners ( cost probably too much ? ).New box has good sound, but if I would compare it to old vinyl box, honestly, it would be 95% compared to old one.Which is more then OK, considering the price of new one. It is also a bit softer sound now, still amazing.
Amhirishes
More reviews please. Which one to get, the old or the new?
Xirmiu
Well i `ve got both! and as a matter of fact the 1rst edition represents to me a time where the vinyl was doomed to became a dinossaur 8-) so it`s a piece of resistance against the digital.... the new version is remastered and worth having it for a oner€ for the new converted vinyl geezers
Whitesmasher
Can anyone tell me, what is the exactly difference between this Europe and the US Release?? Kann mir einer sagen, was der genaue Unterschied zwischen dieser europäischen Version und der US Version ist?
JoJogar
In these cases (mainstream, not limited press) there aren't much differences except that a different plant was probably used.
JOGETIME
First and most important is that there's seperate pressings (the US pressing made at RI based in Europe). Still no info on which pressing plant used for the EU release.
Daigami
Europe barcode 0190295996925 US barcode :888751843318I hope not to be wronga greeting
Grillador
grindmaster666 Can anyone tell me, what is the exactly difference between this Europe and the US Release?? Kann mir einer sagen, was der genaue Unterschied zwischen dieser europäischen Version und der US Version ist? Most obvious sign are the differences in the sticker on the box and on the labels. Different Barcode-number and the text of the US-version doesn't say "Made in the E.U." Sorry I don't know any pressing details.
Nto
Great release. No surface noise, sound really well remastered from analogue tapes, very dynamic (Astronomy Domine is way much better than the old cd version).Only flaw on my copy, the book has a slight scratch inside.
Galanjov
Nice pressing and a beautiful job on the packaging (save poly lined inners) my disc's quiet and flat. Hoping my review sticks given the kill joy pedants who were arguing the toss over merging versions of this. Fyi you guys make discogs way less fun. And it wasn't my entry you were shitting on. Get a life.
